Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) 2010/2011 OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
In furtherance of its mandate, the PTDF is inviting interested qualified Nigerians to apply for its M.Sc and PhD scholarships in Engineering, Geology, Sciences, and Geosciences in Universities in the United Kingdom for the 2010/2011 session.
Application forms can be accessed online CLICK HERE with a purchase of a scratch card
from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all state capitals and FCT upon the payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira only). Instructions on how to access the forms online are clearly stated on the backside of the cards. The forms can also be accessed through the Scholarship Boards of the 36 States of the Federation and Directorate of Education under the FCDA, Abuja on presentation of First Bank Draft (only) with face value of N1,000.
Applicants are hereby advised to note that only those who meet the requirements below shall be shortlisted and invited for an Electronic Aptitude Test for M.Sc and oral interview for PhD applicants on dates and locations that will be announced in due course. PTDF will assist successful candidates in securing admission into suitable M.Sc courses, while the possession of a valid United Kingdom University Admission Letter is compulsory for all PhD applicants.
MSc REQUIREMENTS
1. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
2. National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
3. Applicants must be computer literate;
4. Possession of O/ level or credit in English language in WAEC,GCE and SSCE; and
5. Applicants must not be above 35 years of age
Applicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply
1. Test of English language as a foreign language (TOEFL)
2. G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination)
3. GMAT – for Management related courses
4. International English Language Testing system (IELTS)
Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach to their online application forms. Please ensure that the size of scanned documents does not exceed 30kb.
1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result;
2. NYSC discharge certificate;
3. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO Results or provide PIN numbers on their application forms to enable PTDF view on the relevant authority’s website; and
4. Recent Passport Photograph.
5. Admission Letter (Only for PhD Applicants)

In addition, the PTDF will also award a limited number of scholarships in the following areas:
1.Petroleum Accounting
2.Energy Finance
3.Oil and Gas Law
4.Oil and Gas Management
5.Petroleum Law and Policy
6.Energy Economics
C. PhD REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must be an Academic, teaching oil and gas related subject;
2. Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in first degree and a good second degree certificate;
3. Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;
4. Applicants must include valid admission letter;
5. Applicants must not be over 40 years of age; and
6. Applicants must include their masters’ degree project.
In addition to the courses listed in (B) above, PhD applicants interested in undertaking research in the
following areas may apply.
1. Geology and Petroleum Geology;
2. Marginal Fields Development;
3. Flow Assurance and Pipeline Geology;
4. Civil and Marine Engineering;
5. Environmental Studies and HSE ( Health, Safety and Environment);
6. Renewable Energy;
7. Reservoir Engineering/Production Technology;
8. Refining Technology;
9. Applied Geophysics;
10. Ship Building and Marine Technology; and
11. Enhanced Oil Recovery.
Please note that recipients of a similar scholarship and former beneficiaries of the PTDF scholarship should not apply.
In due course, qualified applicants will receive sms/email invitation as well as have their names published on PTDF Website (www.ptdf.gov.ng) and some National Dailies for an electronic aptitude test in the case of M.Sc applicants and oral interview for PhD applicants.

Kudos to what you people are doing, but is it for M.Sc only what about Degree students, are they not qualified to apply,studying a course like Botany.

I want to commend the effort of the management and staff of the PTDF for their strive towards upgrading the oil and gas industry through the training of Indigenous Engineers and Professionals.I believe with such efforts,our country Nigeria would certainly come to stand independently.kudos To you all!

will the closing date for the application of the ptdf forms be extended? since First bank main branch in PHC has exhausted there cards and the scholarship board says there are no forms available for now.
