Job Details

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) was established in 1992. The establishment of the Agency by Decree No. 33 of that year followed the adoption by Government of the recommendations of the White Paper Committee on the 1991 Report of a 150 member National Committee on Engineering Infrastructure comprising Scientists, Engineers, Administrators, Federal and State Civil Servants, Economists, Lawyers, Bankers and Industrialists. NASENI, by its mandate and scope of operation is the Nigeria's only purpose built Agency designed to conduct developmental work in the areas of manufacturing and as such, it is capable of coordinating the proliferation of technologies developed either within or outside of its Centres including patents obtained.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified Nigerians to fill the position of Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Abuja that will soon be vacant.

Job Title: Director-General/Chief Executive Officer

1. Qualifications

The candidate must possess a Ph.D degree or its equivalent

2. Experience

Must possess at least twenty (20) years of post graduation cognate experience. The degree and experience must be in the field of Engineering and Applied Sciences (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Electrical/Electronics, Chemical, Production, Agricultural, Industrial, Engineering Physics, Industrial Chemistry, Energy Studies, and Nanotechnology).

In all cases, he or she must show evidence of capacity for high academic and professional work and ability to initiate relevant research, development and innovation of practical importance.

COREN Registration and Membership of Engineering Professional Bodies or their equivalents shall be an added advantage. In addition, the candidates must show evidence of good number of Technical Publications in reputable journals and published conferences/seminar papers

3. Age

Candidates must not be below 45 years of age

4. Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the Governing Board of the Agency and will perform the following duties for all attainment of the goals and objectives of the Agency:
2. Day to day management of the Agency
3. Provision of the leadership role in research and development in emerging technologies, such as Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) to foster the evolution of a viable Engineering infrastructure system
4. Liaise with National and International Organizations, including institutions in the area of Research and Development
5. Ensure effective transfer of developed technology to private and public sector for effective utilization and national development
6. Encourage commercialization of the research finding
7. Any other duties that may be assigned to him or her from time to time by the Governing Board of the Agency or the Honourable Minister
5. Conditions of Service

The Conditions of Service are the same as those applicable to similar positions in Federal Government Research Institutes/Agencies, Colleges of Agriculture and Allied Institutions in Nigeria.
