The Balanced Scorecard is one of the most widely-used management frameworks worldwide. Many in the private and public sector, including government agencies and non-profits, have used it to successfully execute ambitious strategies with measurable results. In 1992, Harvard Business School professor Dr Robert Kaplan and management consultant Dr David Norton released their seminal Harvard Business Review article, “The Balanced Scorecard: Measures that Drive Performance.” They detailed this innovative approach to performance management. In the same year, Kaplan and Norton founded Renaissance Solutions to help businesses effectively carry out their strategies using the Balanced Scorecard framework.
In 1971, renowned futurist Ted Gordon established Futures Group. Through Gordon’s innovative systems analysis, Futures Group examined the impact of various factors on future outcomes. Futures Group used its analytic tools to model the impact of population factors on social and economic development. The insight from this shaped policies and initiatives that led to improved economic and social welfare the world over.
