The Risk Manager / Accountant will carry-out end-to-end risk assessment, monitoring and reporting on a day to day basis including daily valuation and profit attribution. In addition to this the candidate will interact closely with the finance department in the verification of the daily regulatory returns and assist with any other responsibilities required from either a finance or risk perspective.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Driving the identification of key risk indicators for the business
Identifying and reporting on risks in the market and operational risk functions where these exceed risk appetite
Receiving and analyzing daily credit and market risk reports for positions and reconciling these to the financial reporting positions
Reporting on any risk excesses in any of the risk areas to the relevant business and risk personnel
Monitoring remediation of these excesses and reporting on the same
Monthly reporting to relevant risk committees both in Nigeria and South Africa as required
Assist in driving Basel 2 implementation within the bank
Upkeep of the organizations risk frameworks and policies
Serve as back-up to the financial manager on the verification of the daily regulatory returns
Assist with any other responsibilities that may be required
Min Required Experience:
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate should have a B.Sc in mathematical/statistical/actuarial sciences, or B.Eng, or MBA with risk specialization or be a qualified CA
At least two years’ working experience within a merchant/investment banking treasury environment, or similar
A sound understanding of forex and fixed income markets
A good understanding of regulatory reporting requirements
A good understanding of treasury operating processes
A good knowledge of IFRS.

A strong communicator who is deadline and solutions driven.
Able to operate in a fast-changing environment (building a business).
Able to work as part of a highly innovative and competitive team, meeting demanding deadlines.
