DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (CONTRACT)

BACKGROUND

Our client, a fast growing Software Solutions & Technology company has given us the task to source Database Administrators (Contract) who are available for a short term project (3 Months). The Database Administrator is expected to oversee all aspects of the business’ database. This would range from initial database architecture design to implementation, administration, monitoring, tuning, backup, migration, and support.

LOCATION: The client's head office is located in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The position will be responsible for performing all of the following duties:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and document database architecture. Data Modeling.

  • Design Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform

  • Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions

  • Set up data sharing and disk partitioning

  • Develop database utilities and automated reporting

  • Create shell scripts for task automation

  • Create, test and execute data management languages

  • Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements

  • Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency Monitor systems and platforms for availability.

  • Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover

  • Restore and recover corrupted databases

  • Install and test upgrades and patches

  • Implement security and encryption

  • Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.

Job Requirements

Min Required Experience:

2 year(s)

Min Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree/HND

Desired Courses:

Computer ScienceComputer Engineering

Other Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • First Degree in Computer science or any related science discipline.

  • Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server and MySQL.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.

  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.

  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server and MySQL.

  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.

  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.

  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory, Apache server and proper disk configurations.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.
