CONTRACT PROJECT MANAGER (EXPERIENCED IN SOFTWARE PROJECTS)

BACKGROUND

Our client, a fast growing Software Solutions & Technology company with an exceptional team has given us the task to source Project Managers (Contract) for a short term project duration of three (3) months. The candidate should have quality hands-on work experience in executing Software Projects.

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

This person would be the key point of contact for Software Project Management activities for entire projects including scopes and parameters in execution using the Agile methodology of Project Management.

This person must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the Agile Methodology of Project Management.

The position will be working with software designers, software engineers, application developers, advanced front-end developers, corporate clients, analysts, internal and external stakeholders by maintaining and performing all of the following duties:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leader: Lead and provide direction to project team (comprising of individuals with different skills) in clearly understanding what is expected of them towards successful execution of overral project.

  • Time Management: Responsible for estimating realistic time for various activities for the completion of projects assigned and also prepare for any delays in any of the tasks assigned.

  • Budget Allocation & Cost Estimates: Responsible for assigning budgets to the various project related activities and make cost considerations where required.

  • Link: Serve as link between her/his clients, team and supervisors. She/he will be responsible for cordinating and tranfering all the relevant information from the clients to her/his team and report to senior management.

  • Communication: She/he will work closely with analysts, software designers, software engineers and other staff members and communicate goals of the project assigned. She/he will be responsible for monitoring progress of the projects and taking action accordingly.

  • Mentor: Asides from taking ownership in executing tasks, she/he will provide guidance to team at every step and ensure that the team has cohesion.

  • Reporting: She/he will be responsible for monitoring project execution and provide progress reports to Supervisory team. She/he will also be responsible for escalating project SLA violations and unforseen risks.

  • Knowledge: Ensure overall project plan and execution is guided and implemented by the agile methodology.

Bachelor's Degree/HND

Other Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: BSc or higher degree or its equivalent in a relevant field including Business Management, Project Management, Economics. A Masters degree qualification will be an added advantage.

  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years relevant post-qualification experience.

  • 3 years within stipulated years of experience must have been spent either managing software projects or being an active team member responsible for managing software projects.

  • Training Requirements: Certificates of examination and/or training organized by recognized Project Management institutions/certification bodies.

  • Advanced Excel use for reporting.

  • Execution – Quality experience beyond theory to actual implementation and execution of tasks assigned.

  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.

  • Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views. The Project Manager will be required to educate other members of staff on agile methodology and other project management principles.

  • Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

  • Ethics - Works with integrity and ethically.

  • Adaptability - Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions.

  • Judgment - Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER INFORMATION (Occassional Travel may be required)

  • Occassional inter-state Travel may be required.

  • Occassional work from various company subsidiaries may be required.

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual should have expertise in standard business office applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and be familiar with agile methodology of project management.
