ROLE: MEDICAL DOCTOR (OCCUPATION HEALTH ADVISOR)

BACKGROUND

Our client, a reputable Occupational Health Clinic & Diagnostic Centre has given us the task to source a Medical Doctor (Occupation Health Advisor) with quality Medical practitioning experience within a reputable clinic or as company or Industrial site Doctor.

The client's Industrial Health clinic is located in Benin City, Edo State. The Medical doctor is required to work on a part time basis (two days in a week for 4 hours each).

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

As a Medical Doctor (Occupation Health Advisor) working at our on-site clinic you will be responsible for improving the quality of life of our staff by providing expert medical treatment to staff promptly, and make referals to quality healthcare professional incase of complicated cases. You will have an excellent diagnostic ability with good interpersonal relationship. You must always maintain a calm disposition under pressure.

He/she will be expected to perform the following duties:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute all necessary pre-employment medical examinations;

  • Carry out routine and occasional medical check-ups on staff.

  • Initiates the procurement of all drugs and medicaments, tools and medical equipment needed by the Staff.

  • Provide Health advise to staff through constant communication, training and other third party health service providers.

  • Liaise with registered HMO to ensure that medical care provided to our employees and their family are standard and prompt.

  • Organizes occupational health services lectures/seminars and periodic health screening for various occupational groups e.g. food-handlers, drivers, Hygiene and housekeepers.

  • Delivery of an Occupational Health service in line with national Occupational Health policies and local service level agreements.

  • Delivery of General Practioner services to employees.

  • Ensure that employees are screened pre-placement through overseeing the process and / or undertaking assessment activities. Identify any implications for employment and provide them with relevant health information for their role.

  • Manage the delivery of health surveillance and screening programmes.

  • Collate and analyse statistics.

  • Act in a professional advisory capacity to unqualified Occupational Health staff.

    This would include but is not limited to:

  • Making decisions in relation to external referrals.

  • Providing professional Occupational Health advice.

  • Management of site Occupational Health records

  • Develop strong working partnerships with associated professional groups such as physio, Occupational Hygienist, Health and Safety and HR.

  • Co-ordinate and/or deliver health promotion activities and advice where appropriate.

  • Contribute to the development of national operational excellence e.g. through contribution to policies and procedures, working parties etc

Min Required Experience:

2 year(s)

Min Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree/HND

Desired Courses:

MedicineMedicine and Surgery

Other Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor of Medicine or Surgery

  • Registered Medical Practitioner

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years specifically in Occupational Health environment.

  • 4 years and above overrall experience working as a Medical Practitioner preferably as a company doctor.

  • An understanding of current Health and Safety Legislation

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

  • Good interpersonal relations.

  • A team player able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

  • A customer-focussed, positive approach to work.

  • Flexibility to meet business need, which may include working on/covering other Industrial sites.

  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities.

  • IT literacy (word, excel, power-point and outlook preferred)

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development.

  • Experience working within an Occupational Health environment.

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with tools, technology and systems typically found in a healthcare environment (I.e Mocrosoft Office Suite, patient records systems, EMR systems etc).

WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER INFORMATION

  • Office site in Benin City, Edo State.

  • Medical Doctor will be required to work only two (2) days in a week for four (4) hours consultation in those designated days.

    Interfacing with: Industrial Health Nurses, Company employees, Operations Team, HSE Team, Human Resources team.
