ROLE: COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA MANAGER
Our client, a reputable Montessori School and Children Activity Centre (Museum) has given us the task to source a Communications & Media Manager for its company and subsidiaries. The individual is expected to have quality hands-on work experience and be genuinely passionate about Public Relations (PR), Communications and Content Management. She/he should be motivated to use initiative and fun creative recreational communication skills, to ensure appropriate representation of the group in the media.
The client's activity center is located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
The Communications & Media Manager drives the overall Communications and Media Strategy for all the expressions affiliated with company and its subsidiaries.
He/she will be expected to perform the following duties:
RESEARCH & SOCIAL MEDIA:
Perform research on social media trends and audience preferences.
Manage social media visibility campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
Develop relevant content topics to reach the organization’s target Index.
Generate (or liaise with Community Services Manager), edit, post, share and manage all published content across social media accounts on a daily basis (e.g. text, photos, videos and news)
Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads and conversions.
Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
Design, create and manage promotions and Social ad campaigns.
Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation.
Monitor online reviews and respond to each review.
Analyze key metrics and tweak strategy as needed.
Compile reports for management showing results (ROI).
Conduct online advocacy and open a stream for cross-promotions.
Become an advocate for the companies in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
Set and implement specific social media objectives to align with the companies’ visibility objective.
Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success, ranging from Facebook and Instagram contest, to Twitter chats, as well as the content and links posted through these and other channels.
Drive consistent, relevant traffic to our social network platforms.
Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target audience.
Work alongside our digital agency and content producers to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience.
Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner, monitor reviews and report on feedback.
Organize and participate in events to build community engagement and boost awareness.
Coordinate with the administrative team to ensure message consistency.
Build relationship with media professionals and journalists.
Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications.
Education: BA/BSc or higher degree or its equivalent in Public relations, Marketing, Communications or related fields required.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years working experience in public relations, communications, or marketing with demonstrated experience managing a comprehensive strategic communications program that advances an organizational mission.
A knowledge and understanding of media, including social media.
Strong project management skills will be key as we have several new and ongoing organizational initiatives.
Experience in developing marketing plans.
Significant supervisory, managerial, and budgetary responsibility experience.
An ability to manage projects with two or more stakeholders using a collaborative and professional approach and to operate well under pressure.
Government relations, public relations, and corporate communications experience.
Demonstrate ability to map out a comprehensive marketing plan. Drive strategies that are proven by testing and metrics.
Develop organizational elements in order to implement a proactive process for capturing happy, loyal *customer (*people we are engaging with) online reviews.
Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
Identify threats and opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the organization. Report notable threats to appropriate management.
Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and social advertising campaigns.
Monitor effective benchmarks (Best Practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.
Experience in marketing and communications.
An understanding of media relations and PR.
Ability to develop and run integrated, coordinated marketing campaigns.
Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology and their applications.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing. Marketing degree is welcomed but not required with relevant work experience.
Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in social media. (Give links to profiles as examples). Have active social media presence and followership
Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing.
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
Maintains excellent writing and language skills.
Proficient in content marketing theory and application.
Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound.
Practices superior time management.
Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (i.e.: content development, creation and editing of content, and online reputation management).
Makes evident good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly.
Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social.”
Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress.
Demonstrates winning Social Customer Service techniques such as empathy, patience, advocacy and conflict resolution.
