Supervisor, Feed Mill
The Feed Mill Supervisor will be responsible to the Feed Mill Manager. The employee will oversee all activities, operations and maintenance of the feed mill facility producing commercial poultry feeds and aqua feed, and feed for chicken of different ages.
Key Responsibilities includes:
a. Produces high quality feeds efficiently while controlling the cost per ton produced by good labor management and proper preventive maintenance.
b. Supervises the delivery and pick-up of feed orders to and from poultry farms as well as controls cost of labor and equipment used in efficiently delivering feed.
c. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in grinding, screening, and mixing stock and feed from grain and other ingredients according to specifications.
d. Manufacture products and oversee storage, trans-loading and packaging activities according to required specifications.
e. Oversees cooking, cooling, and pelletizing of feed; supervise packing of feed and storage and transportation of feed products.
f. Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines.
g. Monitor and assess the operating condition of the equipment and report or correct any current or pending problems.
h. Ensure that the mill and surrounding area is kept open and orderly.
i. Conduct and record inventory reviews of operating supplies.
j. Filling and emptying barrels.
k. Directs grinding of feed materials, such as grain, alfalfa, and corn cobs in hammer mills, or attrition mills, or roll grinders and mixing of ground feed with malt, mash, molasses, salt, soda, vitamins, and other ingredients, according to formula.
l. Collect and analyze samples for in-process quality control.
m. Ensure that the mills are running at their optimum production rate.
n. Assist in the management of the mills.
o. Adjust separators as required for quality control or operating efficiency.
p. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
q. Perform any other assigned task.

Education and Experience
a. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree/HND in animal science, poultry science, or feed science and management from a reputable institution.
b. Animal feed mill experience, either stand alone or as part of a meat processing plant.
c. 8 years of Feed Mill production and management experience, with at least five (5) years at Supervisor level.
d. 3-4 years of Commercial Feed experience with a good knowledge of bag feed operations.
e. Familiar with /understanding of ISO certification.
Key Working Relationships
a. Reports to the Feed Mill Manager who provides general supervision as well as specific assignments.
b. Schedules work flow with Feed Mill Manager.
c. Coordinates with Nutritional Services Unit on feed manufacturing schedule and raw ingredient scheduling.
d. Maintains a close working relationship with all supervisors concerning maintenance of plant equipment.
e. Maintains a close working relationship with hour mill employees concerning upkeep and maintenance of plant equipment.
f. Works closely with the accounting department to ensure proper and timely billing and payment of contractors/suppliers.
