Job Summary
To provide operational support that enables the business to anticipate, respond to and minimise physical risks to individuals and assets across the Group’s geographical locations.
To establish policies, practices and procedures that help Rainoil hedge against avoidable loss and liabilities that may result from health and safety issues and ensure that the impact of Rainoil’s business on the natural environment is minimal.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides insights and information to and advises Management on Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) implications of corporate strategy options and planned imperatives § Advises management on the cost and effectiveness of safety and health programs
Prepares the annual health, safety and environment budget and implements to ensure that safety objectives are achieved. Monitors performance to minimise variances
Designs, communicates and drives the operationalization of health, safety and environment standards, policies and procedures
Liaises with Heads of Business Divisions and Departments to drive adoption and compliance with HSE standards, policies and procedures
Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge of regulatory, industry and other developments in the HSE area, advises management as appropriate
Job Description Manual:
Ensures that the business is compliant with statutory, regulatory, industry and other HSE requirements
Develops and implements a schedule of regular HSE audits and inspection visits
Develops an effective incident and accident response programme and leads its implementation across the business
Recommends and makes the business case for adopting corrective measures to address identified HSE risks and issues. Oversees the implementation of adopted measures
Oversees the assessment of HSE needs and related equipment acquisitions
Establishes measures to ensure that HSE equipment remain operational and fit-for-purpose
Maintaining effective relationships with relevant external agencies and emergency response service providers (e.g. Fire Service, emergency services, HMO, environmental agency etc.)
Works with Human Capital to develop and drive the implementation of a group training and education programme for occupational HSE management
Provides guidance to management and business divisions to ensure effective waste management and minimise the impact on the external environment

Qualifications Required:
Minimum of ten (10) years working experience in the Safety and/or Environment role in the Oil & Gas or Manufacturing Industry, with three (3) years in a management position
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Engineering or related Sciences,
HSE Certification
Desirable:
MBA or Master’s degree in a related discipline is an advantage
