Job Description

Human Capital Partners (HCP) is a professional services firm specialising in the provision of professional services covering the entire spectrum of the Human Resources function. HCP is the successor firm of the erstwhile Executive Selection and Training Services group of KPMG in Nigeria. The Group existed as the Executive Selection unit within Arthur Andersen Nigeria and in 2002, became KPMG Nigeria’s Executive Selection & Training Services Group. The practice was established as an independent entity in July 2011. Human Capital Partners is a member of the International People Services Network, a network of independent but collaborating ex-KPMG firms operating globally and is registered with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, The Nigerian Institute of Training and Development, and the Centre for Management Development (CMD) Lagos, Nigeria.

Job Title: General Manager, Operations 

Human Capital Partners (HCP) - Our client is a building construction company with over 30 years’ experience delivering residential and industrial projects that meets the need of its clients. As part of on-going initiatives to strengthen its operations and enhance its capacity to achieve its goals, they seek to recruit a dynamic, exceptional and results-oriented professional to fill the position of General Manager, Operations.

Job Summary:

The role reports to the Managing Director, oversees the operations department and will

  • Drive the strategic realisation of the corporate objectives
  • Manage business operations to ensure service delivery, quality control, resource management and cost optimisation
  • Ensure business profitability and suitable margins to ensure market competitiveness, value differentiation and sustainability
  • Champion key imperatives for the business in terms of approach to the market, underlying business philosophy and corporate branding
  • Ensure client briefs are delivered on time, within best quality requirements and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear development of the Company’s corporate strategy and strategic guidance/oversight of operations
  • Prepare and execute business plans that would drive business growth and position the Company towards achieving its growth aspirations
  • Gather and analyse competitive data and information on potential customers, competitors and market segments in line with business requirements to gain insights into current and future opportunities
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of the Company
  • Initiate and implement an organisational structure, as well as operational systems and processes that drive efficient and smooth running of the business
  • Manage business operations to ensure service delivery, quality control, resource management and cost optimisation
  • Drive the development of annual operating plans including business plans, operational requirements, staffing and budgets that support the Company’s strategic plan
  • Ensure efficient materials, resource and personnel management
  • Review and approve key expenditures/transactions in line with operational budgets and the Company’s priorities
  • Prepare SLAs in collaboration with other units and in line with business requirements; with the aim of achieving operational efficiency and timeliness in service delivery
  • Monitor business profitability and suitable margins to ensure market competitiveness, value differentiation and sustainability
  • Ensure an appropriate commercial approach to the market in order to achieve the market share objectives and drive growth
  • Manage the Company’s resources to generate strong revenue growth and profitability in line with the mission and vision for the business
  • Ensure budget approval and internal control mechanisms are in place to ensure budget compliance and cost optimisation
  • Review the Company’s performance against set targets and define and monitor action plans for improvement
  • Ensure project viability and feasibility
  • Supervise the Company’s Procurement and Vendor Selection processes to ensure best value for money
  • Deepen customer relationship with existing and prospective customers in order to increase profitability, growth, increase in market share, as well as customer loyalty and satisfaction
  • Manage human resources in order to optimize performance and enhance output.

Other Requirements

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree from a reputable tertiary institution
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ cognate experience, five (5) years of which must have been at Senior Management level
  • Strong financial capabilities, including working capital management, analysis of financial data and development of KPI reports
  • Outstanding leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Excellent customer orientation, entrepreneurial flair, analytical skills, commercial knowledge and business acumen
  • Strong project management and contracting and skills
  • Demonstrable networking skills, particularly relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills
  • Strong business ethics and high level of integrity.
