Harbour Human Capital Solutions (HHCS) Limited on behalf of our client, a Non-Governmental Organisation which runs a Vocation Training Centre for the Blind in Lagos, is currently recruiting to fill the position of LIBRARIAN:

Main Responsibilities:

o  Day to Day supervision of all activities relating to the School Library

o  Acquisition of Library Equipment and Materials

o  Stamping/Accessioning of Books and other Library materials

o  Classification of Books Materials

o  Preparation of Catalogue (Book cataloguing)

o  Charging (Loan) and Discharging of books to students and other Library Users

o  Preparation of Individual Listening Room/Audio Tapes for students/users

o  Dubbing of Audio Books recorded for students and other Library users 

o  Shelf- Reading and Shelving of Books and other Library Materials

o  Conversion of print materials to Audio Books on CD 

o  Teaching of "Use of Library" in the classroom.

o  Preparation of Recording Studio for volunteer Readers (on Cassettes)

o  Dissemination of information for research purposes

o  Transcription of textbooks and other print materials into Braille format.

o  Weeding of obsolete Books from the shelves.

o  Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal.

 Qualification and Experience:

o  HND Library Science with at least 5 years’ experience of working with individuals with vision impairments.

·     Previous experience of working in a School Library

o  Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

o  Excellent knowledge of Brailling and production of documents for the visually impaired.

o  Must have ability to use Brailling equipment and documents that can covert text to audio.

o  Ability to adapt to change and respond positively to non-routine situations

o  Strong organisational skills, effective team working and ability to prioritise work.

o  Good problem-solving skills and ability to maintain clear & accurate records.

o  Active listening skills and ability to work closely with children and young people.

o  Must be computer literate.
