Job Description:

An indigenous farm plantation located in Okaka in Oyo State, South West Nigeria is seeking  for a competent Farm Manager (in charge of Administration), whose main duty involves running of the day-to-day and long-term management of farm activities in an efficient and profitable manner.


You will be expected to carry out the following activities:

  • Planning and coordinating farming activities across the key phases of preparation, planting, harvesting and processing.
  • Plan financials and production to maintain farm progress against defined budget
  • Budgeting and maintenance of accurate financial record.
  • Maintain and monitor the quality of yield with knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how they are treated
  • Interface with local and national agencies on behalf of plantation and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Maintain a sustainable health and safety standards across the farm estate
  • Coordinate activities, mentoring and monitoring of staff performances
  • Arrange the maintenance and repair of farm properties, machinery and equipment
  • Buy and administer supplies, such as fertiliser and seeds
  • Willing to undertake practical activities, such as driving tractors, operating machinery, or spraying fields
  • Involvement in advertising and marketing farm products

Minimum Requirements:

Demonstrable 2-3 years’ experience in oil palm plantation farming. Previous hands-on farming experience and proven technical knowledge in farm management in relevant area is an added advantage

At least Bachelor’s degree (BSc, BEng, BTech, BA) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in agriculture related disciplines such as:

  • Agricultural engineering
  • Crop management
  • Agric Economics
  • Farm business management

Other Skills:

Prospective candidates should be able to show evidences of the following:

  • An interest in the countryside and rural life (successful candidate might be required to stay within the farm premises)
  • A strong administrative skill with an attention to details.
  • Genuine commitment to farming and large-scale business awareness
  • A good understanding of modern farming methods
  • Good technical knowledge and IT skills such as the use of computer word-processing, spreadsheet and database packages, together with specialist agricultural software.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) and the ability to work with diverse workforce
  • A good supervisory skills and farm management capabilities
  • Proper organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and take on new challenges
  • Driving license
  • Soft Skills competencies such as marketing, negotiating and mentoring skills
